The measure which establishes a clear, increased salary scale for teachers teaching in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) (except mathematics) in all state general education institutions of the Republic of Armenia, aims to provide additional payments to teachers teaching in the field of STEM (excluding mathematics) in all general education institutions. The measure was introduced in the “General Education” programme in 2023.

In 2024, AMD 1,959 bln were allocated to the measure. AMD 1,978 bln will be allocated to the measure in 2025, which has increased by 0,97% compared to the last year

8294 teachers were teaching STEM subjects (“Geography”, “Geography of Armenia”, “Natural Sciences”, “Nature”, “Biology”, “Chemistry”, “Physics”, “Informatics”, “Digital Literacy and Computer Science”) in all educational institutions of the Republic of Armenia in 2024. And it is planned to provide additional payment to 8612 teachers in 2025. The additional payment rate is 25% which is calculated based on the salary provided in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation. The additional payment provided to teachers teaching STEM subjects is due to the importance of involving teachers teaching natural science and technology subjects in schools.
