According to the Draft Law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2026”, it is planned to allocate AMD 384.8 bln to the Education Sector in 2026 for the implementation of 15 sectoral programs. This figure is 18.5% higher than the education expenditures allocated in the approved budget for 2025.
Compared to the 2021 budget, the year of the introduction of the new state standard for General Education, the 2026 budget draft plans to allocate 2.4 times more money to education. Compared to the 2024 budget, Education Sector expenditures in 2026 (if approved by the National Assembly) will exceed by 49.3%.
In 2026, compared to 2025, the programs for the construction and improvement of General Education and Preschool Institutions (66.9%), as well as the program for ensuring the quality of education (24%), recorded significant growth.
It is foreseen that in 2026, the General Education Program will again make up the largest portion of the education budget – 36.3%.
Preliminary discussions on the draft budget are continuing in the National Assembly.
