The Agricultural Sector overall received less funding than planned in 2024. While the draft envisaged AMD 44.5 bln, yet AMD 40.7 bln were actually allocated to it which was, a decrease of about 9%.
However, this decrease reflects certain priorities in budgetary policy. Two important areas received the most funding: Plant Protection and Veterinary Services.
Promotion of Plant Growing and Plant Protection Programme received 13 times more funding than planned, and veterinary services received 28 %more. This sharp increase shows that food security and natural disaster prevention were prioritized.
The Rural Infrastructure Development and General Agricultural Promotion Programmes were reduced by 36% and 29%, respectively. The Agricultural Modernization Programmes, as the largest one, shawed a moderate decrease.
This reallocation demonstrates the orientation of public policy towards more specialized and targeted interventions to ensure future food security.
