One of the most important means of improving the quality of education is the professional development of teachers, which promotes the effectiveness of the teaching process. According to the appendix to the Law on the State Budget, the programme “Ensuring the Quality of Education” includes a number of measures for training of the teachers, which are aimed at ensuring the professional growth of teachers working in general education institutions. One of the training programmes is aimed at the measure “Training of teachers teaching STEM subjects in the state schools of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with new standards.” The measure was introduced in 2024, and has the objective to comply with the new standards the training of teachers teaching in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in schools located in the Ararat, Gegharkunik, and Kotayk regions of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the annual budget plan for 2024, AMD 87.4 mln was allocated for the measure, and AMD 138.6 mln is planned for 2025.

In 2024, the number of trained teachers teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) subjects is 375, and it is planned to reach 1,765 in 2025. The trainings are carried out as assistance to improve the quality of teaching and learning of STEM subjects in the regions.
