Prevalent Programmes in the 2024 Education Sector Budget

Education is a key component for the development of society, ensuring personal and professional growth of the individuals. Effective implementation of educational programmes is important for the economic and social development of the country. The Annual Budget 2024 demonstrates increased attention and investment in the education sector, demonstrating the commitment of the state to improving the education system.

The draft budget for 2024 envisaged 14 programmes, the allocated budget amounted to AMD 316.7 bln, which is an increase of 59.7% compared to the previous year..

The programmes implemented in previous years were supplemented by the “Creation, Construction, Improvement of Public Educational and Preschool Institutions” and “Preschool Education” programmes. Allocations have increased in almost all budget lines.

In terms of the increase rate of programme funding in 2024 compared to 2023, the first three major allocations were provided respectively to the “Ensuring Quality Education” programme, with the increase of 72.8%; the second is the “Scientific and Scientific-Technical Research” Programme, with the increase of 57.8%, and the third is the “Primary (Craftsmanship) and Secondary Vocational Education” Programme, with the increase of 38.5%.

Over these years, attention to general education in budgeting has increased obviously. The share of general education in 2024 is 38.49%, or AMD 121.9 bln. And the share of “Creation, Construction, Improvement of Public Educational and Preschool Institutions” programme, which is included in the list of programmes of 2024, is 29.06% or AMD 92 bln.
