A working discussion on the topic ” Challenges Women Caregivers Face: From Project Results to Advocacy and Systemic Solutions,” dedicated to reviewing the outcomes of the ““The Value of Care and the Public Budget” project and discussing directions for future work was held on 14 September.

The Project Manager Ms Satik Badeyan opened the event. Ms Anahit Mardoyan, a representative of the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO and the “Budgets for Citizens” project delivered opening remarks as well.

In her speech, the latter touched upon the main directions of the sub-grant project implemented within the framework of the “Budgets for Citizens” program, emphasizing the importance of research, analysis, and advocacy work carried out by civil society organizations on public policies and budgetary processes. She also touched upon the experience formed within the framework of the program and the opportunities that have been created to identify sectoral problems, develop proposals on them, and establish a dialogue with relevant state structures.

During the discussion, project expert Ms Lilit Chitchyan presented the policy document “Caregiving is on Women’s Shoulders: Recognizing and Supporting this Work,” which was developed based on research and addresses the key issues and possible policy solutions for women providing care to people with disabilities.

Participants discussed possible directions for further advocacy and cooperation on the issue, including the formats for involving state structures, sectoral organizations, and other stakeholders.

During the meeting, the participants presented their observations and recommendations aimed at developing systemic solutions in the care sector and strengthening further cooperation.
