On 17 September, an event to present the results of the “Advocacy to promote State-Civil Society Cooperation in the Framework of Public Support Programs in the Agricultural Sector” sub-grant project implemented by the “Association of Young Journalists” Non-Governmental Organization was held within the framework of the “Budgets for Citizens” program,.
Representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, regional CSOs, sector experts, and farmers participated in the event.
Mr. Arman Ghazaryan, the President of the “Association of Young Journalists” Non-Governmental Organization delivered an opening speech: he welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of efforts to identify existing problems in the agricultural sector, assess the needs of beneficiaries, and strengthen cooperation among various stakeholders.
Further, Ms Syuzanna Soghomonyan, representing the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO and the “Budgets for Citizens” program, delivered welcoming remarks. She outlined the main objectives of the program, the priority areas of the sub-grants projects implemented under framework of the program, and the achieved results, emphasizing the importance of civil society organizations and their advocacy efforts aimed at improving public policies and budgetary processes.
The results of the study conducted under the project, along with the issues identified and the main obstacles facing potential recipients of the state support in the agricultural sector were presented during the event.
The project was aimed to identify the problems and obstacles that potential recipients of state support in the agricultural sector faced, to develop recommendations to address those, and foster cooperation between the state and civil society organizations to ensure the more effective implementation of sectoral policies and support programs.
A wide-ranging discussion took place during the event as well. During the discussion the participants presented their observations, recommendations and experience.
In the near future, we will present the key findings of the study and the recommendations developed.
