On 11 September, the closing event of the sub-grant project “Food Security Budget and Risk Recommendations: Poultry Sector” implemented within the framework of the “Budgets for Citizens” program was held.

Mr. Hakob Avagyan, President of the “SME Cooperation Association” Non-Governmental Organization, delivered an opening speech. He thanked those present participating in the discussion and presenting their observations and professional experience on important issues in the sector.

Ms Anahit Mardoyan, a representative of the “Budgets for Citizens” program, also delivered a welcoming speech. In her speech, she touched upon the main goals of the “Budgets for Citizens” program, the work carried out, and the results recorded within its framework.

During the discussion, the document “Food Security Budget and Risk Recommendations: Poultry Sector”, which addresses the existing challenges and possible solutions in the food safety and poultry sector, was presented,

In particular, discussions focused on issues related to the formulation of the annual budget of the Food Safety Inspection Body (FSIB) and the assessment of expenditure efficiency, as well as opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of funding in this sector.

Particular attention was paid to prospects for reducing dependence on poultry imports and developing local production, taking into account the need to ensure food security and the sustainable development of the sector.

Representatives of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, the “SME Cooperation Association” NGO, sectoral unions, and non-governmental organizations participated in the discussion.

During the meeting, participants presented their observations and recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of food safety policies and the related budgetary processes.
