On 10 September, the “Compass” Scientific-Research, Educational and Consulting Center NGO organized a public discussion focused on enhancing budget transparency and accountability in the higher education sector of the Republic of Armenia.
The event was held within the framework of the “Advocacy for increased Public Participation and Improved Accountability in Higher Education Budgeting in Armenia” sub-grant project
Ms Anahit Mardoyan, a representative of the “Budgets for Citizens” program, delivered opening remarks, outlining the main objectives of the program, key activities carried out under its framework, and the results achieved. Further, Mr. Gharib Harutyunyan, President of the “Compass “NGO, presented to the invited representatives the document developed under the program, after which the participants shared their observations and recommendations regarding it. Based on the opinions and recommendations expressed, a package of practical reform proposals aimed at enhancing the transparency and accountability of budget processes in the higher education sector was developed.
Representatives of public and private higher education institutions, sector experts, representatives of government bodies and civil society organizations, as well as students, attended the discussion.
