On January 13, 2026, an event was held within the framework of the “Budgets for Citizens” project, featuring the “Smart Budget” sub-grant project implemented by the “Improve Our Village” NGO.
The event was attended by Lianna Sargsyan, Chief Specialist of the Livestock Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Ruzanna Martirosyan, Chief Specialist of the Environment and Agriculture Department of the Kotayk Regional Administration, representatives of local self-government bodies of Kotayk region, Artak Saribekyan, representative of the “Budgets for Citizens” project, as well as volunteers, students, and farmers.
The event opened with welcoming remarks delivered by Anahit Tovmasyan, Project Manager of the “Smart Budget” sub-grant project, Artak Saribekyan, representative of the “Budgets for Citizens” project, and Lianna Sargsyan, Chief Specialist of the Livestock Department of the Ministry of Economy. They highlighted the importance of collaboration among civil society, public authorities, and sector stakeholders in improving transparency, efficiency, and accountability of budgetary processes in the livestock sector.
During the event, project experts presented the main achievements of the project, the results of the monitoring carried out, and recommendations aimed at improving the livestock sector. At the same time, participating farmers voiced the existing challenges in the sector and shared practical proposals for the development of livestock management.
The event served as an important platform for discussing how civil oversight and public participation can contribute to more effective, targeted, and citizen-responsive public policy in the livestock sector.
This event was implemented with the financial support of the European Union, within the framework of a sub-grant provided by the “Budgets for Citizens” project, implemented in cooperation with the Armenian Lawyers’ Association NGO, the Center for Economic Development and Research NGO, and Agora Central Europe NGO (Czech Republic).
