The Business and Education Association (BEA) NGO successfully implemented the sub-grant project “Monitoring and Analysis of the Social Assistance Sector Budget” within the framework of the “Budgets for Citizens” project.
The final event of the project was held on January 13, during which the key results aimed at increasing transparency of budgetary processes and strengthening public oversight in the social assistance sector were presented.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Marine Zhamkochyan, President of the Business and Education Association (BEA) NGO and “Monitoring and Analysis of the Social Assistance Sector Budget” sub-grant project manager. She emphasized the importance of the project in the context of improving the effectiveness and accountability of social policy.
Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and “Budgets for Citizens” project manager. In his speech, he presented the main activities and achievements implemented within the framework of the “Budgets for Citizens” project, highlighting the importance of developing the capacities of civil society organizations in the budgetary field, as well as the involvement of young professionals in budget monitoring and analysis processes.
Karen Zadoyan emphasized the significance of the sub-grant project implemented in the social assistance sector, noting that such initiatives contribute to the development of more transparent and evidence-based sectoral policies. He also stressed that recommendations developed by CSOs should be formulated in a more targeted and applicable manner for competent public authorities, enabling constructive dialogue and effective advocacy campaigns to achieve tangible changes.
During the event, Armine Grigoryan, a young specialist of BEA NGO, presented the simplified budget of the social assistance sector for 2025–2026, aimed at increasing public awareness and encouraging participation in budgetary processes.
Subsequently, project expert Susanna Yeghiazaryan presented the consolidated results of the budget monitoring and analysis carried out within the framework of the sub-grant project, as well as the analysis of survey results conducted among civil society organizations, media representatives, and independent experts.
Representatives of the Unified Social Service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, as well as representatives of civil society organizations, participated in the final event.
Through the implementation of this project, BEA NGO has taken another step toward enhancing transparency, public participation, and awareness in budgetary processes in the social assistance sector.
The event concluded with active discussions and networking.
