On 3 December, an event, on presentation of the preliminary results of the “Postgraduate Education in the Language of Budget: Funding Transparency and Accountability” Project, implemented with the sub-grant of the “Budgets for Citizens” project was held in a remote format. The event was aimed to present certain results of the study carried out within the framework of the project, and to hear observations and recommendations on them. CSOs interested in the field attended the event.
Budget allocations for 2020-2024, namely, data on the financing of programs within the framework of the Postgraduate and Higher Education Program, its dynamics, and the share of education in GDP, were presented during the discussion.
The following issues identified as a result of the study were discussed during the event:
- The issues of the number of students receiving free higher education in Armenia, as well as the inexplicably low scholarships,
- Issues related to social problems of postgraduate students during their postgraduate years, including issues of discrepancies between tuition fees and the amount of scholarships.
