Education Sector of Armenia experienced significant differences between the projected budget and actual expenditures in 2024. Although the draft planned to allocate more than AMD 300 bln for education, in fact about 260 billion drams were spent, which is almost 20 % less.

Some programs exceeded the funds allocated by the Draft. Thus, more funds were allocated for “Pre-School Education” and “School Seismic Safety Improvement” programmes than planned. It is noteworthy that the “Safe School” programme received about 60 % more funds than planned.

At the same time a number of important areas received significantly less funding than planned. Craftsmanship and Secondary Vocational Education, Scientific Research, as well as the Construction of General Educational Institutions programmes were significantly reduced.

These data indicate budgetary planning and resource management issues that affect the successful development of the education system.
