On 4 March, regular training sessions on participatory budgeting at the state and community levels and its legal bases were held for the young specialists and CSO/Media representatives. The training sessions were conducted with the participants of the second stream of training programs aimed at transferring budgetary knowledge to young specialists and developing the budget capacities of CSOs/Media organizations launched within the framework of the “Budgets4 Citizens” program.

Young specialists and CSO/Media representatives delved into the topic with the assistance of Ms Syuzanna Soghomonyan, representative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.

The main topics of the training included the goals and principles of participatory processes, the legal bases of participatory budgeting at the state and local levels, and the role of civil society in the budgetary process.

During the training sessions, in addition to the theoretical knowledge received, the participants also discussed specific sectoral issues, collected new ideas, and shared their own experience. The growth of the participants’ knowledge was measured through pre- and post-tests aimed to assess the effectiveness of the training.

The hybrid format, combining face-to-face and online participation opportunities, ensured active involvement of participants from remote regions, contributing to the balanced development of regional potential in the area of participatory budgeting.

The “Budgets 4 Citizens” (B4C) action (8 December, 2022 – 7 December, 2026) is being implemented with the financial support of the European Union by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, in cooperation with partners “Economic Development and Research Center” (EDRC) NGO and “Agora Central Europe” NGO (Czech Republic).
