“Budgets for Citizens” project (hereinafter referred to as the Project) created a virtual bridge between the capital and Gavar by organizing an online awareness seminar for students and faculty of Gavar State University.
At the beginning of the seminar, Samvel Amirkhanyan, Dean of the GSU Faculty of Economics, emphasized the importance of student participation in such educational programs, welcomed the Project team for their continued cooperation within the Project, and noted that it is important to have young professionals who are proficient in budgeting processes for community development.
Then, Anahit Mardoyan, representative of the Armenian Lawyers Association and Project Assistant, presented the opportunities provided by the Project, the steps taken so far to increase participatory budgeting, and also discussed the progress and results of the first stream of the training program aimed at developing young professionals’ budgeting capabilities.
Lilit Hakobyan, expert at Economic Development and Researchthe Center, presented in her speech how the training program can become a starting point for young people’s professional careers.
Particularly inspiring was the speech by Sona Avagyan, a GSU student and graduate of the first stream of the training program for developing young professionals’ budgeting capabilities. Sharing her success story, she noted that young people living in the regions should be more active and take advantage of such opportunities.
At the end of the event, a discussion took place during which students inquired about the details of the program.
