Within the framework of the “Budgets for Citizens” program, participants of the youth specialists’ budget training program, which started about five months ago, conducted individual awareness seminars applying the knowledge and skills gained during online courses, master classes by skilled experts, as well as visits to competent state bodies and meetings with their representatives.
The seminars were conducted by about 15 young participants who have passed the in-depth and practical skills development phase of the public awareness stage of the budget training program, representing various regions of Armenia.
Our participants from Shirak, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, Syunik, Armavir, and of course Yerevan, conducted seminars in their communities, where the main topics discussed were the budget cycle, the RA budget system, participatory budgeting, budget programs, state and community budgets, advocacy in the budget process, and other topics.
As a result of the seminars, around 150 residents of Armenian communities were introduced to the budget process and participatory budgeting mechanisms.
Various community groups participated in the awareness seminars, including schoolchildren, youth, elderly, as well as individuals with different specializations who are interested in the budget process.
The seminars conducted by the young specialists of the program were aimed at raising the level of public awareness about the budget process, thereby contributing to the increase of participatory budgeting in Armenia.
The “Budgets 4 Citizens” (B4C) action (8 December, 2022 – 7 December, 2026) is being implemented with the financial support of the European Union by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, in cooperation with partners “Economic Development and Research Center” (EDRC) NGO and “Agora Central Europe” NGO (Czech Republic).
